DRESSING DOWN RENAISSANCE

March 1, 2018

Statement pieces are for me, an important part of building up your wardrobe. I've written about it a few times over the last year or so that Girl, I Got You has been up. They are anything from tops and coats to shoes & bags - special pieces that can be saved in your wardrobe for years to come.

Like this stunning renaissance inspired pastel floral coat, it is a beautiful statement piece of my mums (you know how I like to use all closets available to me) that was bought and "collected" over 10 years ago. That's the beauty of fashion and the benefit of collectible statement pieces is that fashion trends always come back around i.e. pastels are totally in at the moment and having the weather start to turn, I thought it was the perfect time to bring it out. Keeping the styling on the simple side as it in itself is almost all you need - with ripped light blue jeans and a lovely pastel pink blouse underneath. While finishing off the look with cute slip on espadrilles, a metal vintage handbag and some pretty gold necklaces. Of course you can wear this coat open with the tie to the back if you want a "looser" fitting outfit, but I do prefer it when coats are tied/belted at the waist to enhance and show off our lovely figures. With a statement coat like this you really don't need to do to much to make your outfit look chic and fabulous - even a simple white tee and jeans will do the trick, while also making it wearable on an everyday outing.
