Denim on denim I feel is something some people shy away from. I however love a good denim ensemble although it has to be done right, you don't want to be channelling Britney and Justin Timberlake from 2001. The best way to do it justice I feel is to go for a close matching shade of blue denim in the shirt and jeans, but break it up with either a belt or if you wearing a denim jacket break it up with a t-shirt or button up like I have done here. I took this absolutely gorgeous renaissance inspired denim jacket from One Teaspoon with it's double sided buttons, military inspired shoulder loops and ripped out elbows, making it a definite statement piece to add to my wardrobe. I styled it with a crisp white button up from Ralph Lauren (definitely a go to place for classic and perfectly tailored button ups). This particular shirt has a long almost bell sleeve that is perfect for going under a jacket or sweater as I love it when it pops out of the bottom. I paired the amazing jacket and shirt with light denim Lee Cooper jeans (notice that both denim pieces are similar in color) and topped off this incredible everyday outfit, with a pair of unbelievably chic burgundy brogues from See by Chloe' and an amazing french hand made tulip inspired bag from Jamin Puech - my mums absolute favourite bag designers. Denim on denim is here to stay people, it's been around for a long time and is not going to go away. So it's just a matter of finding what works for you from washed out to dark denim and making it your own.
